Following up on the Grand Sport Tourbillon that debuted in 2020, Laurent Ferrier has announced the Sport Auto.

The Laurent Ferrier Sport Auto features a 41.5 mm x 12.7 mm grade 5 titanium case that contrary to virtually all the other current references in the collection, is made for sporting activities.

Like the Grand Sport Tourbillon, the new Sport Auto comes in a cushion-shaped bezel and barrel-shaped middle case, water-resistant to 120 meters, although thanks to a less complicated (smaller movement), the case diameter was reduced by approximately 2.5 mm.

A domed sapphire protects the blue opaline gradient dial, which is punctuated by powder grey transfers for the chapter ring, cross-hair dial, small seconds, outline around the date aperture, and logo. The 18K/750 white gold 210Pd “Assegai” shaped hour and minute hands (with green lume), and with the sloped and beveled date window, display the time and date. The 18K white gold indices have the same “Assegai”-shape as the hands, and green lume — except they’re applied pointing the opposite direction of the hands.

The name of the watch (“Sport Auto”) is embossed on the dial, in a subtle tone-on-tone blue hue, at 6 o’clock. Just below that is a recessed small second subdial with an 18K white gold baton hand that sweeps continuously.

A sapphire caseback, secured by 4 screws, offers a full view of the gorgeous new in-house caliber LF270.01 micro-rotor wound automatic 4Hz movement (32.5 mm x 4.85 mm) which has 31 jewels and 215 components. The bridges of the three-quarter plate style movement have a horizontal satin-brushed ruthenium finish, with hand beveled and polished edges.

Like the Grand Sport Tourbillon, the Sport Auto features a fully integrated metal bracelet, however, while that watch is stainless steel, the watch case and the bracelet, are made of lightweight grade 5 titanium. The case has a depth rating of 120 meters. Considering the Grand Sport Tourbillon listed for $185,000 the Sport Auto (Ref. LCF040.T1.C1GC5) should be in the $30K-$40K range, however, the brand did not provide the actual retail price.
