Today Casio launched two new high-end additions to the MRG lineup, crafted with titanium alloy and other innovative materials and called the MRGB5000 series.

One model is the MRG5000B-1 (pictured) which features a titanium case and bracelet with a DLC coating that protects the exterior of the case from scratches and damage. The other model is the MRGB5000D-1 which comes in the same titanium alloys but forgoes the DLC coating in favor of a rugged titanium carbide finish.

The bezel and case are constructed of 25 individual components which have been finished with premium Sallaz polishing, making the detailed mix of matte and polished surfaces really stand out.

Like all the square watches from G-Shock, the MRGB5000 series is based on the design of the first G-Shock, the original DW-5000C, from 1983. The signature brick pattern and red outline are present in this latest square-shaped MRG timepiece.

For the black-colored MRG5000B-1, the buttons, bracelet bolts, and screw-locked caseback have been given a gold-color ion plating treatment, along with colored highlights on the dial as well. Whereas the silver-colored MRGB5000D-1 has a black ion-plated screw-lock caseback and tone-on-tone buttons.

To enhance the durability of the watch, G-Shock used COBARION for the bezel, which is a cobalt-chrome alloy that is four times harder than titanium and is part of a 25-piece Multi-Guard Structure. Superior shock-absorption elements were specifically developed for this MRG that include incorporating flat springs and resin buffers between the components of the watch.

Additionally, Ti64 is used for the case and the band employs DAT55G, a titanium alloy about three times harder than pure titanium to further enhance the absolute toughness of the models.

Both the MRGB5000D-1 and MRGB5000B-1 boast feature Bluetooth® functionality that allows the watch to be connected to a smartphone via the Casio Watches app, Multiband 6 Atomic Timekeeping (as a redundant backup to Bluetooth), solar-powered quartz, and a  Super LED illuminator.

Each MRG meets are exceeds the high standard shock resistance offered for any G-Shock watch, as well as 200 meters of water resistance. In addition to the time, date (full auto-calendar), second-time zone, there are 5 daily alarms, a 39-city world timer, a stopwatch, and a countdown timer.

The MRGB5000D-1 will retail for $3,500 and the MRGB5000B-1 will retail for $4,000. Both will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow.
