Originally debuted by Breitling in 2017, this is a new variation of the Navitimer B03 Chronograph Rattrapante 45.
The 45 mm x 15.73 mm case, in 18K gold, is unchanged from 2017, when the watch was launched in both stainless steel and red gold. However, there’s a new Stratos gray sunburst dial, new black subdials, and the date wheel that’s visible through an aperture at 4:30 is now color-matched to the dial as opposed to being white.
As for the movement, it’s the same manufacture caliber B03 (protected by two patents) — made at Breitling’s chronométrie facility in La Chauxde Fonds — as the 2017 models. Nothing has been changed with regards to the movement, it’s still 4Hz, automatic, with 70-hours of power reserve, and measures 30.40 mm x 9.18 mm.
Thanks to the rattrapante chronograph function, two centrally mounted chronograph seconds hand can be operated independently (split-seconds). One is controlled by the pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock (traditionally), and the other is controlled by the single pusher located at the end of the crown (rattrapante). This allows two times to be recorded simultaneously.
Like with the existing Breitling rattrapante, the chronograph seconds hands each have a unique counterweight, one being an anchor and the other the Breitling “B” emblem. When stopped at 12 o’clock, they appear as one, but when timing different events you will see both separately.
The crown has double gaskets and is the push-in type. Water-resistance is rated to 30 meters. This is a Navitimer chronograph and so a bi-directional bezel with circular slide rule is standard.
