Audemars Piguet created a one-of-a-kind Royal Oak Chronograph (Ref. 26331) in platinum (pictured top) for the One Night for One Drop charity auction that takes place in Las Vegas, March 8, 2019. The unique piece, which is one of six lots (including a McLaren 570S Spider), features a purple “Grande Tapisserie” patterned dial with navy blue counters and outer chapter ring. Proceeds from the sale benefit the One Drop Foundation, whose mission is to directly assist One Drop’s safe water access initiatives around the world and educational efforts throughout the Las Vegas valley. Estimated retail is $112K.

Breguet recently announced a new version of the Classique 5177 (Ref. 5177BB/2Y/9V6), with a dark blue “Grand Feu” fired enamel dial. The classic timepiece is presented in an 18K white gold fluted case and is powered by automatic caliber 777Q which has a power reserve of 55-hours. The free sprung balance spring, escape wheel, and pallet fork are made of silicon.

To highlight the 160 “Laureus Sport for Good” programs around the world that are designed to help end violence, discrimination, and disadvantage by using sports, IWC has created a 1,000 piece limited edition Aquatimer. The Aquatimer Chronograph Edition “Laureus Sport for Good” (Ref. IW379507) comes in a 45 mm x 16.9 mm stainless steel case that has a black vulcanized rubber coating, dark blue dial, and matching blue rubber strap. This Aquatimer has a unique mechanical external/internal rotating bezel with IWC SafeDive system, and is equipped with a flyback chronograph powered by automatic caliber 89365 which beats at 4Hz, has 35 jewels, and a power reserve of 68-hours. Retail is $11,700.

This week, German watchmaker Glashutte Original announced two new watches within their Sixties collection with fiery orange dégradé dials. The Sixties three hand model comes in a 39 mm x 9.4 mm steel case, and the Sixties Panorama Date comes in a 42 mm x 12.4 mm steel case. The dial pattern is an embossed (raised) design that is manufactured using a 60-ton press and utilizes some tooling dating back to the 1960s. The dial factory has been owned by Glashutte Original since 2012, which is rare as most watch companies outsource dial production.
