As usual, Ochs und Junior has released a watch that’s both mechanically and visually distinctive.

The new Two Time Zones + Date has an hour hand that shows two time zones at once, as well as an analog date display. Whereas typically a second-time zone is shown via a second-hour hand or a subdial, in this instance it’s neither. Instead, the hour hand, with a triangular aperture, simultaneously points to the local hour on the outer chapter ring and shows the home time hour inside the aperture.

When you look at the two time zones it’s intuitive, as the most legible watch dials tend to be. And the exact minute can be read using the date holes, which are spaced at 2-minute intervals, for precise time-telling (holes mark even minutes and gaps odd minutes). The only knock is that the primary time zone hour (local time), is indicated via 6 indices, not 12, so you have to do some guessing when reading the normal time, which could be perhaps fixed by just adding 6 more indices.

In addition to the dual time functionality, there’s also a date display that uses 30+1 perforations arranged in a spiral, which you’ll likely be able to instantly see the date on without a lot of effort, despite the fact that it’s indicated by dots not numerals.

If you wondered about those microdisks – located just above the 12 o’clock position of the central second time zone disk and just below the 6 o’clock position – as I did, they are both functional. The disk above the 12 is a power reserve indicator (which rotates counter-clockwise until empty), and the disk below the 6 is the small seconds indicator (which rotates clockwise continuously).

Driving all of the indications is an outsourced movement, the Ulysse Nardin caliber UN-118, which has is automatic, has a 60-hour power reserve, and is hand-regulated by Ochs und Junior to 0/+5 seconds per day.

The Two Time Zones + Date watch comes in a case measuring 42 mm x 12.5 mm and is available in either titanium (76.4 grams), black PVD titanium (76.4 grams), or sterling silver (119.1 grams). Water-resistance is 100 meters.

There are a large number of finish and strap options to choose from, although that brushed titanium with rose gold accents is pretty sharp looking as is.
