This week, LVMH-owned Italian jeweler and watchmaker, Bulgari, unveiled a new version of the brand’s signature luxury sports watch, the Octo Finissimo S.

Featuring an integrated stainless steel bracelet, the 40 mm stainless steel case of the Octo Finissimo S Steel Silvered Dial is just 6.4 mm thick — which is slightly thicker than the earliest Octo Finissimo versions in order to offer an increased water-resistance from 30 to 100 meters. A screw-down crown is also used instead of a push-in style crown.

The Octo Finissimo design set six world records in six years, according to Bulgari, “including in 2014 the world’s thinnest tourbillon, in 2016 the thinnest minute repeater, in 2017 the thinnest automatic watch, in 2018 the thinnest automatic tourbillon, in 2019 the thinnest automatic chronograph and in 2020 the thinnest tourbillon chronograph.” While this timepiece breaks no new records, it does possess the thinnest automatic movement in the world (currently).

For 2021, the Octo Finissimo S is available in the new monochrome edition. The case is satin-polished with a new silvered vertical-brushed monochromatic dial that’s subtly contrasted by the fixed radial brushed bezel.

The Octo Finissimo houses a 3Hz automatic ultra-thin caliber BVL138 movement that has a 60-hour power reserve, is wound by a platinum micro-rotor (2.23 mm), and is decorated with premium finishes such as Genèva stripes, chamfered bridges, and circular-grained mainplate.

A minimalist dial with a mixture of Arabic numerals and indices, coupled with Dauphine shaped hands, display hours, minutes, and uncentered small seconds, with no date indicator. Handwinding and time-setting are controlled by the polished steel screw-down crown that’s set with a black ceramic inlay on the end. A clear caseback offers a view into the gorgeously finished ultra-thin movement. The integrated vertical brushed steel bracelet is accented with polished elements in the center of each link and secured with a hidden folding clasp. (Ref. 103464)

Retail is $12,000.
