Today Oris debuted a special timepiece that coincides with that company’s original founding day on June 1, 1938.

Introducing the Hölstein Edition 2021, presented in a 38 mm diameter stainless steel case based on the Oris Big Crown timepieces from the past and present, with a unique colorway created specifically for this limited edition.

Oris Hölstein Edition 2021

Instead of a fluted bezel and domed sapphire, Oris designed this watch with a more pragmatic minimalist approach with a smooth bezel and a flat sapphire crystal. The signature big crown is still there, as is the marquee pointer date function which uses a central hand (with a red lacquer arrow-shaped tip) to indicate the day’s date on the outer perimeter of the dial via a white transferred 1-31 scale. Set against the neutral gray-colored dial, just inside the date scale, is a white printed railroad-style chapter ring to read the minutes/second. and then inside this are the Large white printed Arabic numerals are located on the innermost section of the dial. At 6 o’clock, another railroad-style scale is printed, with a red lacquered small seconds hand that runs continuously as long as the watch is wound.

Driving the hours, minutes, pointer date, and small seconds is a new version of the Oris caliber 400. The brand new caliber 403 is used for the first time in this watch and notably has a new small seconds function and pointer date. The impressive 5-day (120-hour) power reserve remains from the original caliber 400 and can be wound by hand or by wrist movements.

The watch, which has a 38mm stainless steel case is the first watch to house the in-house developed Oris Calibre 403, a new automatic from our ground-breaking Calibre 400 Series. Oris claims an adjusted rate of -3 / +5 prior to leaving the factory, which is slightly better than the official COSC-certified -4 / +6 standard.

The screw-in steel caseback features a motif of the Oris Bear embossed in the center, along with Hölstein Edition and 2020 engraved around it. The limited-edition number X/250 is also engraved on the back. Water-resistance is rated to 50 meters. A thick gray leather strap with quick-change system completes the 2021 Hölstein Edition. Presented in a special cherry wood box. The 2021 Hölstein Edition is available starting today for a retail price of  $3,900.
