The Altiplano Ultimate 910P, which Piaget previewed this week ahead of SIHH 2018, is now the world’s thinnest automatic at a svelte 4.30 mm.

Other notable record-breaking thin watches are the Piaget Altiplano 900P which is the thinnest mechanical watch at 3.65 mm, the Vacheron Constantin Historiques Ultra-Fine 1955 which has the thinnest mechanical movement at 1.64 mm, and the Bulgari Otto Finissimo which is the thinnest automatic watch with a traditional movement and case configuration at 5.15 mm.

The thing is, the Piaget 910P does not have a traditional movement and case. Like the watch it’s based on, the 900P, the movement, and the case are one. And is this instance Piaget has increased the case size from 38 mm to 41 mm, to allow for a 22K peripheral rotor to oscillate discreetly around the edge of the case, on the dial side. This unique configuration allows for an incredibly thin automatic watch.

Beating a 3Hz, with 238 components, 30 jewels, caliber 910P has a 50-hour power reserve. It’s finished with circular satin-brushing on the case-back, sunburst satin-brushing on the bridges, chamfered edges on the bridges, sunburst or circular satin-finishing on the wheels, and black-coated screws with a dedicated index-assembly with “P” as the Piaget signature.

It’s worth pointing out, the watch is not water-resistant meaning it has a rating of 20 meters or less.
The Altiplano Ultimate 910P will be available next year in rose gold (Ref. G0A43120) for $26,000 and white gold (Ref. G0A43121) for $27,000.
