Today Timex announced the reissue of the Q Timex quartz-powered wristwatch from 1979. They “recreated every detail—including the true-to-the-era woven stainless-steel bracelet, functional battery hatch, rotating top ring, luminescent paint and ticking inside is a modern quartz movement.”

The watch was originally named “Q Timex” to signify the end of the mechanical movement and Timex’s entrance into quartz, this reissue maintains the original features including the ‘Q’ below the 12 o’clock position, true-to-the-era woven stainless-steel bracelet, functional battery hatch, rotating top ring and luminescent hour markers and hands.

The Q Timex comes in a stainless steel case measuring 38 mm x 11.5 mm, with a domed acrylic crystal, a bi-directional anodized aluminum “Pepsi” bezel that can be used to track a 2nd time zone.

Fittingly, the watch is powered by a Seiko caliber PC33 (Seiko was a pioneer in the development of quartz timekeeping technology) with time, date, and day or week functions (in English or Spanish).

The dial is navy blue and is curved with a printed chapter ring and printed “Q TIMEX” and “QUARTZ,” plus a day/date aperture at 3 o’clock.

The movement is 4.15 mm thick, including the battery. You can use a coin to unscrew the hatch, replace the battery and screw the hatch back in place.

The bracelet has an adjustment for positioning the clasp and the depth rating is 50 meters. Retail is $179.
