Belgian watchmaker Ressence debuted the limited edition Ressence Type 1DXB this past week during the  Dubai Watch Week 2019, which took place from November 20th-24th.

This special iteration of the Type 1 Squared is what the brand calls “an Arabic take” on skeleton dials, in collaboration with UAE’s leading retailer of luxury watches and jewelry, Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. “Type 1DXB draws inspiration from Arabic geometric patterns, believed to unveil the underlying reality to the viewer. This traditional design composes with natural light and creates unique shadow play.”

The case of the Type 1DXB is manufactured from grade 5 titanium, instead of stainless steel. The watch retains the patented Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS) module of rotating discs that orbit around each other. What’s new is the skeletonized dial and the sand-colored PVD treatment.

Like the Type 1 Square, the time is set via a lever on the caseback, not via a crown. Functions of the watch include hours, minutes, seconds, and weekdays, as with the watch this is based on.

The watch comes with a sand-colored calfskin strap (20/20mm) and a khaki nato style strap, both with grade 5 titanium hardware. Total weight is a mere 67 grams. Water-resistance is 10 meters.

There are 19 pieces available. Retail is $22,500.
