Today, Pennsylvania-based watchmaker RGM introduced a new limited edition timepiece in collaboration with bicycle frame builder Richard Sachs. RGM founder, Roland Murphy, and Richard Sachs, both create bespoke, handcrafted products for their clients and after collaborating in the past once before, they decided to make another watch, based on client demand, according to RGM.

The Model 500-GMT-RS represents the first RGM with a bi-directional GMT bezel. The stainless steel case measures 41 mm x 11.3 mm and is reminiscent of a Breguet XX, with its ribbed case flanks and circular brushed steel bezel. The 24-hour scale on the bezel is engraved and filled with black ceramic.

A thick sapphire crystal, screw-down steel crown, and two caseback gaskets on the screw-in caseback ensure durability and the watch is water-resistant to 100 meters.

The dial, which reads “GMT PROFESSIONAL” at 12 o’clock, is matte black, with painted Arabic numerals and indices for the hour markers on the main, flat level, and a 45-degree angled chapter ring with graduations for 60-minutes and seconds on the level. The hour and minute hands are Sword-shaped have been skeletonized. The second time zone GMT hand has a red tip in the same shape as the Richard Sachs brand logo. The caseback also has an engraved repeating motif with the same logo.

Driving hours, minutes, central seconds, the GMT hour-hand, and the date is an outsourced automatic Swiss-made RGM ETA 2893-2 that beats at 4Hz, has 21 jewels, is finished with Geneva stripes, perlage, and has a 42-hour power reserve.
