Richard Mille’s RM 40-01 Speedtail timepiece is based on Mclaren’s fastest production car ever.

The Mclaren Speedtail is a futuristic hypercar with an aerodynamic body designed to mimic a water droplet that’s naturally efficient at cutting through the air. As the name implies and as you can see from the RM 40-01 Speedtail case profile in the images – the watch was also shaped after a teardrop of water.

Additionally, the design of the car is seen in the bezel indentations that evoke the bonnet openings, and pushers that recall the air outlets behind the front wheels. Like the design, the quantity being made is matched to Mclaren with 106 Speedtail hypercars and 106 Speedtail watches being produced.

The Richard Mille RM 40-01 Speedtail is $1,022,000 while the car is expected to list for about double that at $2,100,000.
