Romain Gauthier is a small manufacture based in the famous Swiss Vallée de Joux watchmaking region. The company produces just 60 timepieces per year, and the finishes are to absolute highest standards. This means many of the components, such as the brass and German silver bridges, are straight grained and beveled by hand, the dials are frosted and enameled by hand. Basically, any and every surface is manually decorated, without a CNC machine.

The Insight Micro-Rotor is not a new model, and we’ve covered it before. What’s new is the grade 5 titanium case, available with a selection of new dial variations and movement finishes.

Crafted from titanium, the case dimensions are the same as with the existing Micro-Rotor models at 39.5 mm x 12.9 mm, but considering titanium is significantly lighter than gold or platinum, you can really notice the weight difference between these and previous Insight Micro-Rotor models.

The movement specs are the same as well. The automatic Micro-Rotor caliber measures 32.1mm x 6.8mm, beats at 4Hz, and has two mainsprings for an 80-hour power reserve.

For each case material – natural grade 5 titanium or black grade 5 titanium – there are 3 dial/hand variations, each limited to 10 pieces.

The Romain Gauthier Insight collection has evolved quite a bit design-wise and the new finishes perfectly highlight its incredible craftsmanship. Especially the two-tone movement that features palladium-plated bridges juxtaposed against a blackened mainplate, which is visually stunning, on both sides. This particular light/dark combination greatly accentuates the superior level of anglage and polish applied to the edges of the beautiful Gauthier-style blade-shaped bridges.
