Omega announced a completely blacked-out ceramic version of the larger Seamaster Diver 300M Professional today.
The Seamaster Diver 300M Professional collection comes in two sizes: 42 mm x 13.56 mm, and 43.5 mm x 14.47 mm. This new Seamaster is the larger of the two.
Encased in a black ceramic case with alternating matte and polished surfaces, coupled with a laser engraved wave pattern dial, marked [ZrO2] — the Diver 300M Professional Black Black is Omega’s most menacing Seamaster yet.
For the first time, OMEGA used laser-ablation, in raised relief, for almost every detail on the black ceramic [ZrO2] dial, including the waves, minute track, font, and the Omega emblem. Prominent black PVD indices with anthracite lume (blue emission) have been individually applied to the dial, adding to the 3D effect.
Keeping with the all-black theme, Omega implemented a black ceramic crown and helium escape valve, which match the rest of the watch and help keep the total weight down to 115 grams with the rubber strap.
The same positive relief found on the dial can be seen on the diving scale of the unidirectional bezel. The bezel has a frosted matte ceramic insert that provides contrast with the raised polished numbers for the diving scale. Anthracite lume is used for 12 o’clock dote (green emission) so the diving time can be seen in all lighting conditions. Omega’s oversized Sword-shaped hour and minute hands, and lollipop center seconds hand feature the same anthracite lume as the indices. The hour, center second, and indices have a (blue emission) at night, the color emitted from the minute hand is (green emission) to match the diving scale dot at 12.
A screw-locked ceramic caseback with Omega’s NAIAD LOCK system (keeps the font aligned properly) has a sapphire window that offers a view of the caliber 8806 automatic movement. Each caliber 8806 movement features a rhodium-plating, with Geneva waves in arabesque — and the screws, barrel, and balance wheel have been blackened.
Beating at 3.5Hz the 35-jewel caliber 8806 rotor automatically winds the mainspring in both directions, for a maximum power reserve of 55-hours. This is a master chronometer with a co-axial escapement, certified for magnetic resistance to 15’000 Gauss thanks in part to a silicon balance spring. The co-axial escapement and free-sprung balance wheel contribute to chronometric performance, although Omega does not state the rate (it’s at least -4/+6 to be considered a chronometer).
The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Black Black (Ref. 210.92.44.20.01.003) has a locking crown, is water-resistant to 300 meters, has a slightly raised flat sapphire crystal protecting the dial, comes with a black rubber strap with a black ceramic buckle (21mm/18mm), and will be available starting July 2021 for $8,650.
