This was a big year for Richemont brand, Baume & Mercier, as they introduced quite a few new models, and redesigned many of their current collections. The biggest announcement for their men’s watches, though, was the introduction of a totally new Capeland Flyback Chronograph.

To celebrate their new timepieces and new look, the Baume & Mercier booth was decorated to look like a beach house in the Hamptons, and they even painted one of the main walls to look like a beach, and on the opening day, immediately following the show, they threw a big Hampton’s style party. Celebritiessupermodelsls and a number of other distinguished guests, including international watch retailers, press and friends of the brands were in attendance.

The new Capeland chronograph comes in either a steel or 18k red gold case that measures 44 mm in diameter and 16.5 mm thick. Inside, is a La Joux-Perret automatic bi-compax chronograph movement with flyback and date. The movement runs at 28,800 vph (4Hz), has 27 jewels and a power-reserve of 48-hours The dial has a vintage theme with blued or gilt Breguet style hands. A telemeter and tachymeter scale are printed on the dial, which adds to the overall retro theme.

The movement is visible through an exhibition caseback and features the traditional upgrades, such as a blued steel screws, and perlage for the base plate and bridges. The rotor is engraved with the PHI symbol and features a Côtes de Genève and snailed decor finish.

The strap comes in alligator leather with a pin buckle (matched to the case material). Water-resistance in 50 meters.
