TAG Heuer adds a vintage-style integrated bracelet to the 39 mm Monaco Heuer 02 for 2020.
It has been nearly two decades since a new Monaco was presented on a metal bracelet, according to the company. This new H-shaped bracelet is a contemporary version of a design from the early 1970s.
Introducing the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph 39 mm Calibre Heuer 02 Automatic, available in a black or blue sunray brushed dial with the ergonomic retro bracelet. There’s also a third option with a black dial and black leather strap — but the bracelet is the way to go.
“The bracelet is particularly important for any wristwatch — without a good bracelet, the timepiece lacks desirability. For the new Monaco timepieces, we have alluded to its brilliant past with a familiar design and color while reinforcing that the collection is moving forward with innovative new technology,” says TAG Heuer’s Heritage Director, Catherine Eberlé-Devaux.
While subtle, the bracelet is wider at the lugs, and then tapers down towards the clasp for improved comfort. The horizontal bars are connected with smaller horizontal links. A butterfly clasp with double safety push-button secures the bracelet on the wrist, and when closed, the clasp completes a TAG Heuer shield emblem which is engraved on the two clasp ends.
As mentioned above, the stainless steel case measures 39 mm in diameter. Topped with a tall beveled, domed sapphire crystal, and combined with the polished and brushed 39 mm diameter stainless steel case — the look is modern yet has a throwback size and feel.
A sapphire caseback reveals the caliber Heuer 02 chronograph, an in-house automatic movement that beats at 4Hz, has a premium column-wheel with vertical clutch integrated chronograph function, features vertical Geneva stripes on the bridges, a red-color column wheel, a black skeletonized rotor, and an 80-hour power reserve. The water-resistance rating is 100 meters.
The 2020 TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph 39 retails for $6,750 on a bracelet and $6,350 on a leather strap. (Ref.
