Patek Philippe’s highly coveted — and infamously discontinued Nautilus 5711 — has been turned into a custom carbon fiber clad watch.

For those willing to pay almost seven times the retail price, void the factory warranty, and to more or less own a case that looks cool but that for resale purposes, has more or less been ruined — Designa Individual Manufacture out of Moscow, Russia can accommodate you.

Unlike with aftermarket bust down (diamond set) watches — that are ostentatious and that often end up looking hideous and fake — this is at least, comparatively, subtle. You won’t find a factory Patek Philippe 5711 Nautilus in black, so this is an option for those with the means, and no worry about resale vaules.

Despite the word “manufacture” being used in the name of DiW, the company is not a watch manufacture — they’re an aftermarket customizer. Development of a carbon fiber bracelet was presumably no easy task while applying a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) treatment to the factory stainless steel case is pretty standard at many of the aftermarket watch customization companies. The bezel is also made of forged carbon fiber, giving the watch a very unique look while maintaining the signature 40 mm Nautilus silhouette.

The dial, hands, and indices have also been given a black treatment. With zero customizations, Patek Philippe’s caliber 324 S C appears to have been left completely intact.

The use of carbon has helped to reduce the total weight to just 80 grams, which is a considerable reduction from the weight of the stainless steel 5711 model when it leaves the factory at approximately 130 grams.

Limited to just five numbered pieces, it appears all are already sold out, but they’ll likely produce more in the future if they sold all five for north of $200K (179,990 Euros), with relative ease.
