Now in its second generation, Oris has taken the existing Aquis Depth Gauge and given it a makeover.
The 2021 Oris Aquis Depth Gauge has the same 45.8 mm diameter and is estimated to be 20 mm thick, like the original that we covered back in 2015. Instead of a black PVD treated stainless steel case and steel bezel with steel insert the new Depth Gauge has a stainless steel case without the black PVD treatment and a steel bezel with a modern ceramic insert.
Most notably, the dial now has larger applied indices, larger hands that are better matched to the shaped of the indices, and a new font that omits the red writing from the original for a more subtle aesthetic.
Overall, the Depth Gauge has the same rating of 500 meters of water-resistance, the same 1-100 meter depth gauge that requires water to enter through a hole in the sapphire crystal at 12 o’clock, and the same basic 4hz Selitta SW-200 movement with 26 jewels, stop seconds, and a 38-hours of power reserve (not the in-house Oris caliber 400).

The patented system works by allowing water through a hole cut into the sapphire crystal at 12 o’clock and into a channel milled around the outer edge of the crystal. This creates a watermark that corresponds to a gauge clearly indicated in yellow on the dial.”
Two worthy innovations are Oris’ patented Quick Strap Change system, which is standard, as is the Oris-developed folding security clasp with extension and safety anchor systems. The interlug width is 24 mm. (Ref.01 733 7755 4154-Set MB)
