American-based watch brand Weiss Watch Company has created an ultralight version of their popular field watch.

The Weiss American Issue Field Watch Ultralight not only features a lightweight grade 5 titanium case but the movement mainplate and bridges are crafted in aluminum. While titanium is regularly used for watch cases, and sometimes in movements, aluminum is rarely used to make cases or watch movements. In this instance, 7075 aluminum was used as the primary base for the caliber 1003 movement and has a matte black anodized aluminum finish. The 3Hz movement is manually wound, has a hacking seconds function, and a 46-hour power reserve.

The American Issue Field Watch Ultralight has a dark blue dial with white printed Arabic numeral indices, a white chapter ring, a white subdial, and large, polished silver Sword-shaped hour and minute hands. The titanium case is both polished and brushed and has a sapphire caseback.

In total this ultralight watch, which measures 42 mm x 12.8 mm, weighs 30 grams less than the comparable model in steel, or just 56 grams including the strap. The water-resistance is rated to 100 meters.

Limited to 100 pieces, the American Issue Field Watch Ultralight comes on a tan Horween leather strap with a contrast stitch, and it retails for $2,800.
