Watchmaking: A. Lange & Söhne Design Sketches

July 30, 2013

The first thing you see when you look at someone’s watch: is the dial and case. Accordingly, in the watch manufacturing process, designing the case and dial are two of the most important elements. There are many elements that differentiate one watch brand from another, but known more than the face of the watch. These are some of the initial sketches that are the beginning part of the watch creation process at A. Lange & Söhne. “From the first rough sketches to final acceptance, the design of a dial alone can take up to two years.”
