CBS, aired an informative 13-minute segment on it’s award-winning 60 Minutes show Sunday, focused on the Swiss watchmaking industry.
Jon Wertheim and his 60 Minutes crew visited the famous Vallée de Joux, in the valley of the Swiss Jura Mountains, a picturesque farming and watchmaking landscape that is considered the heart of Swiss watchmaking. They also visited Geneva, which is the big city, and commercial heart of Swiss watchmaking, on the other side of the Jura Mountains.
The segment started with none other than legendary watchmaker Philippe Dufour, in the Vallée de Joux village of Solliat, where he operates his small workshop, alongside his daughter, Danièla Dufour, who is following in her father’s footsteps.
Wertheim also visited Le Sentier, and the Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture, another Vallée de Joux village, which is also home to Breguet (formerly the Lemania factory).
Richard Mille, MB&F, and Patek Philippe were also highlighted on what was one of the most informative and impressive watchmaking videos we’ve seen to date.
