Originally made in a resin case in 1993, the Frogman has been recreated in titanium and given the prestigious MR-G moniker.

Each component of the MR-G Frogman MRG-BF1000 has been individually manufactured and finished to perfection. Casio’s most premium version of the Frogman features the signature asymmetrical case, crafted in titanium, with deep layer hardening plus a black DLC coating. The watch measures a sizable 49.7 mm x 18.6 mm (56 mm lug-to-lug) and weighs 170 grams including the titanium bracelet.

“The MR-G Frogman MRGBF1000B1A watch is built with an intricate combination of over 70 exterior components, including an O-ring waterproof seal to deliver outstanding FROGMAN water resistance and special buffers to strengthen the shock-resistant structure — all while maintaining the beauty of form the MR-G line is known for,” according to MR-G.

The case is equipped with a Clad Guard Structure specially adapted for diving, a screw-in caseback, and a screw-down crown. The Frogman is ISO-rated as a diver’s watch to a depth of 200 meters. It also has numerous serious diving features and when set to “diving mode” it can: (1- track dive time in 1-second increments, up to 1:59’59, 2- Surface time measurement: up to 24 hours, 3- Log data: up to 30 records.)

MR-G states, “Equipped with Bluetooth®, the hour and minute hands overlap and work in unison to form a single hand when in diving mode, making the minutes spent underwater easy and intuitive to see and delivering high visibility. Download the dedicated app to pair with your smartphone and easily display tide data for more than 3,000 locations around the world. Check dive logs on your smartphone and get more details on data tracked by your watch.”

There’s also a tide graph (tide level for specific date and time), as well as the usual features such as alarms, countdown timer, stopwatch, world time, phone finder, watch status, and more.

The module powering the MRG-BF1000 is a Japanese quartz movement with automatic tough solar-powered recharging, Bluetooth Mobile link auto time syncing when connected to the Casio watches app, and backup multi-band 6 atomic radio-controlled timekeeping if the time cannot be synced with Bluetooth.

MR-G says, “For enhanced strength, we have developed a protective structure with fluoro rubber buffers installed between the multiple bezel parts. This structure features face-guarding functionality that helps to absorb shocks from the front and the sides, as well as protecting the crystal. The dedicated MR-G module features a gold-plated retainer plate. The screw-lock case back is fit with a sapphire crystal finished in red vapor deposition and engraved with the iconic FROGMAN diving frog character.

The titanium band is finished with a deep-layer hardening process and DLC coating. The band is also extendable so it can even be worn over a wetsuit. Simply remove the side pins while pressing the buttons on the lugs’ undersides to quickly and easily swap out the band. More than just handsome, this timepiece provides superior functionality, as well.”

Even for one of the MR-G’s most elevated timepieces, with advanced diving and timekeeping features, and a premium titanium construction with intricate finishing — the asking price is steep.
