One of the coolest MoonSwatches to date pays homage to the Omega’s Speedmaster, first achieving its now legendary, NASA flight qualification status in 1965.
Referred to as the MoonSwatch 1965, this non-limited edition features the most popular gray Bioceramic case color, a stark white dial, a contrasting black bezel with white tachymeter scale, and black hands, indices, and font.
The case measures the same 42 mm x 13.25 mm and 47.3 mm lug-to-lug as all previous MoonSwatches, which is a good thing, as the size is ideal for a broad majority of the population (which is one of the reasons the Omega Speedmaster itself is such a commercial success).
Uniquely, the MoonSwatch 1965 features two unique counters at 10 and 2 o’clock. The first indicates the number 19 (normally 60) at the top, while the other displays the number 65 (normally 10), referencing the year 1965. These counters have been calibrated to total 19 hours (counter at 10 o’clock) and 65 minutes (counter at 2 o’clock), making the chronograph display slightly different than the typical chronographs.
Additionally, the numbers 19, 65, and 60 (on the counter at 6 o’clock) glow blue under UV light, paying tribute to the OMEGA Speedmaster and the flight qualification it received from NASA, 60 years ago, in 1965. An image of the Moon is located on the battery cover.
The strap included with this is the original velcro style (that’s not super appealing); however, it now comes with quick-release spring bars, which make swapping out for an upgraded factory rubber strap far easier. We can also highly recommend FKM rubber straps by Helvetus and Perpetual Straps, which are referenced here, here, and here.
The MoonSwatch 1965 came out in February 2025 for $270 and currently retails for $285, as shown. The price is likely to increase due to tariffs. It was in stock at Swatch Denver during a September 2025 visit, so chances of being able to buy this model (Ref. SO33M106) are good, I’d say, although I cannot speak to the stock available across the country.
