Founded in Paris, France, in 2023 Belvans is a portmanteau of “Belle” for beauty and “vans” because it rhymes with elegance.
All Belvans timepieces have a distinguishing center seconds hand, shaped like the Eiffel Tower, an homage to the brand’s Parisian roots. The Héritage represents the young company’s second watch collection, following the now sold-out Prestige.
Belvans Héritage case
The Belvan’s Héritage timepiece features a 316L stainless steel rectangular outercase, bezel, and crown with an 8-sided case shape, a fixed bezel, and a unique double-stepped design. The case measures 38 mm x 11 mm, with a 46 mm lug-to-lug and 22 mm lug width.
Unique Inner Case Construction
“Inside, however, we’ve lined it with a thin layer of titanium applied using a PVD process. This film, only a few microns thick, conducts heat at about half the rate of steel, enough to smooth out small temperature variations that can, over the course of a day, alter the viscosity of the oils in the Miyota 8315 movement. Titanium’s near-non-magnetic properties also provide a subtle shield against stray magnetic fields. It’s not a full Faraday cage, but it does help eliminate one more potential source of disturbance,” according to Belvans.
Three References
The Héritage is available in three finishes: DLC-treated rose gold, DLC-treated yellow gold, and stainless steel. The case surfaces alternative between matte and polished finishes, and both the front and back are protected by genuine sapphire crystals (with internal anti-glare treatments), which is something watchmakers tend to omit at this price range. A screw-down crown, which mimics the case shape, is embossed with the brand’s emblem and controls time setting, including hacking seconds, while also allowing manual winding of the watch. Despite its dressy appearance, the watch is water-resistant, rated to an impressive depth of 100 meters.
Musou Black Dial
In addition to the interesting case construction and design, and the unique Eiffel Tower-shaped center seconds hand, Belvans gave its Héritage timepiece a unique Musou Black painted dial. Musou Black is water-based acrylic paint known as one of the world’s deepest black hues; it absorbs 99.4% of light, with only 0.6% reflection, while a classic black paint reflects about 6%. Added to the polished finish of the case, which creates a striking contrast, this watch offers a subtle shine, as captivating by day as by night.
French Watchmaking
In the heart of Besançon, historically considered the heart of French watchmaking, the Belvans Héritage is designed and assembled. The watches are assembled and tested in Moustapha Lamrabet’s Besançon, France-based workshop.
Premium Miyota 8315
A premium version of the Miyota caliber 8315, a Japanese movement made by Citizen, powers the hours, minutes, and center seconds of the Héritage. The automatic 21-jewel caliber beats at 3Hz, measures 26 mm x 5.67 mm, and has a 60-hour power reserve. It has a unidirectional winding rotor that has been customized by Belvans, and offers hand winding and hacking seconds. From the factory, the Miyota 8315 is regulated to -20/+40 seconds per day. The movement is decorated with machine striping on the bridges, blued screws, and a customized oscillating weight.
Leather Strap
The Belvans Héritage comes with a handcrafted black leather strap, made from full-grain Italian leather. An alligator pattern has been added to the top of the strap. A stainless steel pin buckle, engraved with the Belvans emblem, and in the same tone as the case, completes the strap.
Belvans Héritage customers can optionally choose free personalized engraving. Add a name (up to 15 characters) when you add your watch to the cart. An “Add Engraving” section will appear in the cart, where you can enter the text to be engraved.
The retail price for all three models is $846. This price includes import duties and taxes to the US, custom engraving, and a full warranty against defects.
