This is a relatively faithful modern version of the 1960s Nivada Grenchen’s Datomaster chronograph.
The 2022 Datomaster has been upsized to a 39 mm diameter case, making it far more wearable than the old version. The watch has been enhanced with a modern Swiss chronograph movement, though it’s still manually wound, like the original.
The dial features intricate details, such as applied indices, beveled metal rings surrounding the sunken counters, and a logo manually stamped so perfectly that it bulges visibly under a loupe (check the zoomed-in dial shot in our original article to see what I mean).
As you can see in this image, “L SWISS” appears twice, because of the curvature of the double-domed sapphire crystal. The “L” within the full “L SWISS MADE L” stamp, on the perimeter of the dial at 6 o’clock, refers to the non-radioactive SuperLuminova luminescent material that’s used to illuminate the hands and indices.
