Laurent Ferrier celebrates its 15th anniversary with a new version of its distinctive dual-time watch.
This version of the Classic Traveller Globe Night Blue features a 41 mm x 12.64 mm (49 mm lug-to-lug) 18K white gold case with a miniature painting in the center of the 18K white gold dial — showing the continents with blue champlevé enamel work underscored by specks of enameled gold. Notably, the artisanal enamel work requires more than five different firing stages.
A slate grey circular satin-brushed hour ring surrounds the map of Earth and displays a beveled date aperture at 3 o’clock and a beveled dual time zone aperture at 9 o’clock.
Drop-shaped indices are applied in 18K white gold to the outer ring, with stud-shaped hour markers in cabochon-cut 18K white gold at 3 and 9 o’clock, and 18K white gold, polished and curved “Assegai-shaped” hands to read the “local” time (controlled by the crown).
Cleverly, the pushers on the left flank of the case allow you to effortlessly set the “home” time hour indicated in the aperture at 9 o’clock. This indication is linked to the date.
Driving the hours (two indications – via traditional hand and wheel aperture), minutes, and date is Laurent Ferrier’s caliber LF230.02 which has an off-center micro-rotor in 18K solid gold, that’s pawl-fitted and uses unidirectional winding. A natural escapement with a double direct impulse on the balance, silicon pallet lever, and LIGA escape wheels work together for this 3Hz automatic caliber that consists of 288 total components (44 jewels), and offers a 72-hour maximum power reserve.
The Classic Traveller Globe Night Blue (Ref. LCF012.G1.NGE10) is 30 meters water resistant and is paired with a hand-stitched, deep gray nubuck leather strap with Alcantara lining and an 18K white gold pin buckle or double blade-folding clasp.
Naturally, the movement bridges have luscious striping and hand beveled and polished edges, which is to be expected from a brand like Ferrier, especially considering the $100K price tag.
