Omega did something clever in developing the materials for this Paris 2024 Olympics timepiece.

As a tribute to “sporting achievement,” Omega crafted a limited edition watch that utilizes all three medals — gold, silver, bronze — given to the top three Olympic athletes in each competition.

Typically, if we’re talking about gold watch cases in 2024, they’re 18K gold but in this instance, Omega’s Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition comes in a case that’s made in a 9K (bronze) gold alloy BG 859, with a dial made of Ag 925 (silver), and hands made with 18K Sedna (gold) with a PVD bronze gold coating.

According to Omega, the design is inspired by a wristwatch from its 1939 archive that housed the 30T manual-winding small seconds caliber. In 2022, Omega made a stainless steel version of this timepiece, with a less intricate dial, and the same modern caliber 8926 movement, though like the dial, the movement decoration is less premium. That model has an open caseback and can be found on the secondary market for around $6,000 to $8,000.

The watch is classified within the “Specialities” collection and presented in a 39 mm x 11.7 mm vintage style case (46.2 mm lug-to-lug), with a classy retro aesthetic. The sector dial has old-school railroad track print for the hours and minutes, and for the small seconds, as well as a “Clous de Paris” pattern for the main and small seconds subdial, highlighted by a dark gray vintage Omega logo at 12.

Underneath the dial is Omega’s modern manually wound caliber 8926 which beats at 3.5Hz, and has a 72-hour power reserve, with a special luxury finish. The in-house movement features Omega’s most advanced Co-Axial technology and is Master Chronometer-certified.

Flip the watch over to see the embossed and polished Paris 2024 emblem and Olympic rings raised above the frosted background.

The Specialities Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition (Ref. 522.92.39.21.99.001) has a domed sapphire crystal, is water resistant to 30 meters, weighs 76 grams on a brown calfskin leather strap, and retails for $12,000.
