Is Omega’s latest Seamaster teaser on its official Instagram page referring to an integrated bracelet watch, such as a Seamaster 120 Baby Ploprof?

The “Baby Ploprof” is a nickname given by collectors to a vintage Omega Seamaster 120 model because its hands (especially the minute hand) are very similar in style to the larger, more famous Ploprof dive watches.

It was produced in the late 1970s, in an angular (not circular) 39-40 mm stainless steel case, with an integrated bracelet, a caliber 1010 automatic movement, and 120 meters of water-resistance.

The vintage Seamaster 120 Baby Ploprof  (Ref. 166.0250) and (Ref. 166.0251) have a similar look. The former reference came with a basic mesh bracelet, whereas the latter reference has an arguably more attractive case design and a true integrated metal bracelet.

For this reason, and based on the teasers we’ve seen Omega posting, we’d wager that the new “Orange” themed campaign Omega is running, that’s already been confirmed to be a Seamaster, will be a modern version of the Seamaster 120 “Baby Ploprof.”

Notably, the large minute hand on vintage Seamaster 120 “Baby Ploprof” references is most commonly orange.

This simultaneously gives Omega access to the on-trend integrated bracelet market and takes advantage of an archival design, without the burden of having to build something fundamentally new.
