Quantum watches may be a brand name you’re unfamiliar with, but it’s been around for over 30 years, and the company’s original dive watch is all-new for 2026.

Fittingly named after the fast swimming, carnivorous, saltwater fish known for hunting at speeds up to 27 mph, the Barracuda, is presented in a new 41 mm x 13 mm stainless steel case, that’s water-resistant to 200 meters, features a rotating dive bezel, and is powered by a reliable Japanese mechanical movement.

Replacing the outgoing (Ref. BAR1115), the new Barracuda (Ref. BAR1208) design, forgoes the crown guards of its predecessor, while maintaining a screw-down crown, which should prevent opening of the crown in critical underwater situations, even without crown guards.

Reminiscent of classic professional dive watches, Quantum’s 2026 Barracuda collection features a 15-minute count-up bezel insert made of premium scratch-resistant ceramic material. A premium sapphire crystal protects the dial side, with a proper screw-in exhibition caseback on the rear. Each dial boasts large, applied indices painted with Japanese luminous material. Japanese-made hands display the hours, minutes, and center seconds. There’s also a date window, located at 3 o’clock.

Available in green, blue, gray, black, and a teal gradient (with black gradient, darker toward perimeter of dial), the Barracuda gives you a total of five variations to choose from. The flange on each model matches the dial, except for the gradient, which has a black flange. The bezel inserts of the black, blue and green dial versions, match the dial, and the gray and teal dial variants have black bezel inserts.

As you can see in the three-quarter shot above, and the profile view below, the case is sleek, with polished flank bevels, with an engraved “Q” emblem on the ridged screw-down crown. The rotating 0-60 dive bezel has notches, that like with the ridged crown, make it easy to grip, particularly underwater, or with gloves on.
