On New Year’s Eve, Raketa is launching the Golden Key, a unique collector’s series of 300 timepieces.

In the fairy tale The Adventures of Buratino (Russian version of Pinocchio), a key opened the door to a world where your most cherished dreams come true.

Featuring a gold-toned, fixed steel bezel, and a sapphire crystal protecting the dial side, the dial has mattecoarse-grained texture, with applied convex, facted gold-toned indices, a printed minute/second chapter ring, gold-toned rectangular hour and minute hands, a needle-shaped center seconds hand.

Crafted from natural walnut, a hardwood that’s durable enough for a timepiece, the Golden Key watch is a modern interpretation of a rare Raketa watch with a wooden case produced in the 20th century. The case measures 38.8 mm x 10.88 mm, 42.88 mm lug-to-lug, and is coated with a varnish that provides additional protection against warping and moisture, while preserving the natural appearance. The case is water-resistant to 30 meters.

The watch is powered by Raketa manufacture caliber 2609, which is a time-only, 100% Russian-made manually wound 16-jewel mechanical watch movement that beats at 2.5Hz, has a 42-hour power reserve, that’s been adjusted in 4 positions, and leaves the factory running a -10/+20 seconds per day. A exhibition mineral crystal caseback offers a view into the mechanics.

Raketa Golden winding key

The key (made of stainless steel and gold-toned) wind the watch by inserting it through the cut-out in the crown (which is in the shape of the Raketa brand emblem) is attached to a leather cord, so it can be worn around the neck as a charm or at the wrist as a bracelet. As the fairy tale has it, “With the right key in your hand, the right door will always reveal itself.”

The Raketa Golden Key comes on a 20 mm wide black leather strap with quick-release spring bars, comes in a long velvet burgundy lined wooden storage box and is being produced in a limited edition of 300 pieces, for approximately $3,400 (2,900 Euros). Shipped via DHL.
