Rolex authorized dealer, Shreve & Co. — who has operated in San Francisco since 1852 — has announced it will close its Post Street location.
The company officially states, “The decision to close the San Francisco store and move its headquarters to Palo Alto reaffirms Shreve’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional service and craftsmanship to its discerning clientele.”
In conjunction with these changes, the Shreve & Co. located at 150 Post Street in San Francisco’s Union Square shopping district will offer customers an opportunity to purchase jewelry and timepieces at favorable prices of up to 60% off, and the store will close after selling all the inventory included in the sale.
The new location, in Palo Alto, is approximately an hour south of San Francisco by car.
The impetus for the move was not explicitly stated, however, based on well-reported safety issues in San Francisco (and Union Square), one can reasonably assume why the oldest jewelry retailer in California — which has been a fixture in the area for 172-years — would have made such a profound decision to leave.
