On Season 2, Episode 7, of Paramount’s Landman series, actor Mustafa Speaks, known as “Boss” is gifted a “Panda Daytona” Rolex for working at M-Tex Oil for 20 years.
A “Panda” refers to Daytona Chronograph (Ref. 126500LN) with a white dial and black subdials — the most coveted stainless steel model the Genevan-watchmaker offers.
Rolex value retention is still the best in the business, and the Daytona Ref. 126500LN, which currently retails for $16,900, reins supreme over all other Rolexes, and can command a significant markup over the retail price, the moment you walk out the door of an Official Rolex Jeweler with one. Rolex limits availability of this model heavily, and retailers reserve these for their very best clients (for which they have full discretion of who receives each allocation) which drives up demand.
The amount of screen time this Daytona got in episode makes you wonder if Rolex paid to have the watch placed in the show, however, like most watch brands, Rolex typically does not confirm whether a watch was placed. Although, interestingly, Rolex’s sibling, Tudor USA, did officially confirm with Professional Watches, that the Tudor Pelagos is seen in The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, which is cool because it’s one of those watches that truly fits the storyline. That said, Tudor USA only confirmed the watch was in the show, not the terms of how it made it onto the screen.
Landman Season 2, Espisode 2, shows what appears to be a silver dial 41 mm Oyster Perpetual (Ref. 134300), on actor Colm Feore (who plays lawyer, Nate), which retails for $7,050 currently. After analyzing the video, we were not able to confirm the model, so this is a best guess.
Actress Demi Moore, who plays Cami Miller, the wife of oil tycoon, Monty Miller (Jon Hamm), appeared to be wearing a Cartier Tank in Season 2 Episode 2. However, upon closer examination, it appears to be an Apple Watch.
The most obvious connection between Rolex and Paramount+’s Landman, is the famous nickname, “Texas Timex,” which closely connects to Presidents and oil tycoons to Texas (where the show is based), however, that watch is another of Rolex’s highly coveted models, the Day-Date, also called the Presidential. Perhaps we’ll see one these in future episodes of Landman.
