Chronoswiss, a German based watchmaker, that uses Swiss movements, has just announced the new Pacific watch collection. It includes two chronographs and one 3-hand watch. The cases are made of highly polished stainless steel and measure 43 mm in diameter. Powering the watches are ETA swiss made base movements. The dials look very clean, and the green accents (only on the chronographs) look great. Surprisingly, instead of using the signature oversized onion shaped crowns, that are seen on most Chronoswiss watches, they have gone with a more traditional flat crown design. This is much more practical, as a smaller crown typically protrudes into your hand less than an oversized crown, and are therefore more comfortable. Another pleasant surprise is the price of the new Pacific collection, which will start at $3,800.

Chronoswiss Hand-Skeletonized & Engraved Timepieces

chronoswiss-skeleton-timepieces-baselworld-2010-3.jpg

These are two beautiful limited edition Chronoswiss Zeitzeichen Skeleton watches that I photographed through the case at the Chronswiss booth during the Baselworld 2010 show. I have recently featured a few other notable skeletonized watches, made by Benzinger and Armin Strom. All three brands make beautiful timepieces, all hand-engraved and hand-skeletonized, the only way to do a traditional skeleton timepiece. Jochen Benzinger, the watchmaker behind the Benzinger Boutique collection, recognized as one of the best hand engravers in the world, actually did the work on these two Chronoswiss masterpieces.

Chronoswiss Grand Opus Chronograph Black Magic

Chronoswiss-Grand-Opus-Black-Magic-1.jpg

The Chronoswiss Grand Opus Chronograph Skeleton was introduced at Baselworld last month. It is powered by a custom skeletonized version of the Valjoux 7750 automatic mechanical chronograph movement. The stainless steel case is treated with a hard DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating that is fully polished. The caseback is clear and allows a nice view of the movement, however, the dial side is where the view's at. The dial is open worked and offers a great view of the movement. The black, red and white color scheme on the dial and the DLC case will appeal to those who want a sportier looking watch, while retaining the signature styling elements of a traditional Chronoswiss timepiece.
