Casio launched an all-new version of its metal G-Shock, also known as the MT-G, which consisted of three references.
This month, G-Shock added a new reference to the existing 2022 MT-G MTGB3000 collection which has the same features and case dimensions (50.9 mm × 12.1 mm – 51.9 mm lug-to-lug), but with a new two-tone black carbon and stainless steel aesthetic.
Featuring a stainless steel bracelet with a lightweight black composite resin backing, the G-Shock MTGB3000D-1A weighs just 148 grams, despite having a bracelet and a rather large relative case size.
Further subtracting from the weight, is a Dual Core Guard structure which uses a carbon-reinforced resin middle case to secure and protect the Japanese quartz module inside the watch. The black carbon-reinforced resin elements are visible on the exterior of the watch, adding the two-tone look, which also includes black pushers and bolts.
As with all premium G-Shock models, the watch is solar-powered via light that enters through the dial and features Bluetooth time syncing for ultra-accurate timekeeping, after you connect to the Casio Watches app. And even if your phone is not around and unable to connect, the watch will automatically try to sync with the nearest atomic clock tower multiple times per day as a backup.
A rugged structure including an armored sapphire crystal on the front, and a steel caseback, the latter of which also serves as the lugs, results in a lightweight yet incredibly durable timepiece. A screw-down crown and multiple gaskets ensure water resistance to a depth of 200 meters.
One of the more unique design details, unique to this particular reference within the MTGB3000 collection is “Its stainless steel bezel is ion-plated in black, then treated with a hairline finish to expose the stainless steel below the convex surfaces only.”
The straps and bracelets for this collection can be easily removed with no tools. The dial has both painted lume indices and a LED light for optimum night-time visibility. In addition to functions such as a stopwatch, countdown times, and a daily alarm, there’s also a phone finder function available once you sync the Casio Watch app.
The 2022 G-Shock MT-G (Ref. MTGB3000D-1A) retails for $1,050. Learn more at Casio.
