This week Audemars Piguet, Bulgari, Chopard, Nomos, Oris, Shinola, and Zenith announced new watch releases, and Grand Seiko announced they have formed two separate US companies, officially dividing Seiko and Grand Seiko within the US market.
The Oris Robert Kubica Limited Edition (pictured top), celebrates the return to Formula 1 of Robert Kubica, the first Polish driver to race in motor sport’s top tier, Kubica has battled his way back from serious injury to become Williams’ Reserve & Development Driver. The Oris Robert Kubica Limited Edition is based on the Oris Williams Day Date and features a central seconds hand and a minute track in the red of the Polish national flag. Only 250 pieces will be made. Retail CHF 1450.
This is the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold Carolina Bucci Edition featuring a 37 mm hammered 18K yellow gold case and bracelet, with a unique silver-toned dial with mirror finishing. The caseback is engraved with the legend “Limited Edition Carolina Bucci.” Limited edition of 300 pieces, boutique only. Retail $53,600.
This week the Chopard Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph Racing Stripes Edition was announced during Rennsport Reunion VI, the world’s largest gathering of Porsche racing cars. Held at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the 50 piece limited edition ties in with Chopard Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, who drives the Mille Miglia race every year at the wheel of a Porsche 550A Spyder RS.
The Nomos Glashutte Orion Neomatik 41 Date now comes in two new colorways: olive with gold stamped indices and hands and navy with rhodium plated stamped indices and hands. Each watch is powered by the caliber DUW 6101 automatic movement which is just 3.6 mm thick.
Just announced, this is Bvlgari’s most complicated watch ever, the Octo Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar, featuring tourbillon, minute repeater, petite and Grande Sonnerie, perpetual calendar, moonphase, and GMT functions.
This week Shinola announced the new collection which consists of three automatic dive watches named after Lake Huron, Lake Superior, and Lake Michigan, respectively. The Monster Automatic Divers are ISO 6425 compliant with 1,000 feet of water-resistance. A Sellita caliber SW200-1 with 26 jewels and 38-hours of power reserve drive hours, minutes, seconds, and date functions. Retail starts at $1,250.
Zenith is an official partner of The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, which helps raise money and awareness for cancer research and men’s mental health on behalf of The Movember Foundation. This past Sunday, 112,000 vintage and classic motorcycle enthusiasts rode through 648 cities spread across 102 countries to help raise money (the DGR has raised over $13 million to date). In partnership with the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, Zenith released two new watch models including a five-piece limited edition called the Pilot Type 20 Chronograph Ton Up DGR Edition.
