Rolex’s entry-level Oyster Perpetual collection, which is available in five case sizes — 41 mm, 36 mm, 34 mm, 31 mm, and 28 mm — has become quite a collectible timepiece within the hype watch realm.

Costing approximately six thousand dollars, depending on the case size, makes the Oyster Perpetual the most affordable way to enter the world of Rolex.

In particular, the larger 41 mm case size, tends to command the highest asking price on the secondary market. For instance, the most coveted dial color, the turquoise blue (Tiffany blue dial), in the 41 mm diameter case size, could be found listed for multiples in excess of 6X to 7X the retail price at the peak of the secondary watch market, towards the end of the pandemic.

The Tiffany Blue Oyster Perpetual 41 (Ref. 124300-0006) still lists for upwards of 4X to 5X original retail price, despite the rest of the Oyster Perpetual timepieces currently being sold at more realistic secondary numbers. That’s likely because Rolex discontinued the 41 mm version turquoise blue dial version (Ref. 124300-0006) but not the other dials, or the 36 and 31 mm case sizes.

As mentioned, the turquoise blue Oyster Perpetual 31 and 36 are still available in the Rolex catalog, however, with the 41 mm turquoise blue Oyster Perpetual being the most collectible, and discontinued, the new 2023 Oyster Perpetual 41 Turquoise Blue Celebration Motif “Bubbles” could become the next ultra-collectible OP model.

Who would have thought that Rolex was this fun? Apart from jeweled Rainbow editions, which come in precious metals and cost astronomical sums, this is one of the most playful watches Rolex makes, and it’s not outrageously priced. In fact, it’s the same exact price as the other Oyster Perpetual models, respective of case size.

The Oyster Perpetual Turquoise Blue Celebration Motif “Bubbles” are powered by caliber 3230 for the 41 mm diameter version, which offers a 70-hour power reserve, and caliber 2232 for the 31 mm and 36 mm models, with 55-hour power reserves. The three new references are prices as follows — Oyster Perpetual 41 $6,400 (Ref. 124300), Oyster Perpetual 36 $6,100 (Ref. 126000), Oyster Perpetual 31 $5,650 (Ref. 277200).
