In Season 2 of the Paramount+ series Tulsa King, Sylvester Stallone dons a watch that instantly communicates “this is a watch guy.”
Created by writer/director/actor Taylor Sheridan, Tulsa King is a mob drama that takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma (with tie-ins to Kansas City and New York).
Dwight ‘The General” Manfredi is played by Sylvester Stallone, an old-school mafia member who served 25 years in prison. After being exiled by the New York mob, he sets up shop in Tulsa.

Stallone is a serious watch collector in real life and made headlines this past summer for somewhat controversially auctioning a rare Patek Philippe application-only timepiece, the Grandmaster Chime at Sotheby’s.
So it’s not surprising that he would choose such a well-curated and easily recognizable timepiece for Tulsa King. He’s seen wearing a vintage version of the faithful Polo remake that Piaget debuted earlier this year, called the Polo 79.
Coincidentally, the modern Polo 79 won the Iconic Watch Prize this month at the 2024 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (which requires a fee to enter). Sly’s choice shows impeccable taste and is much preferable to the all-too-common unrecognizable dummy prop watch.
