Watch customized Bamford and dial artist Chris Alexander created a limited-edition timepiece that forgoes a standard solid colored dial for something a bit more playful.

With the limited edition 100-piece Bamford Mayfair Cosmic Rainbow timepiece, no dial is alike. Each dial is hand-painted to resemble the beautiful spectrum of cosmic rainbow color, coupled with three varied hand colors.

In a world of homogenous watch designs, this unique aesthetic is a pleasing break from the monotony of green dials or whatever is en vogue at any given moment. Besides, if you like the trendy stuff, rainbows and space watches are two hot trends in watches, and the Bamford Mayfair Cosmic Rainbow touches on both — without being bedazzled or featuring a meteorite dial.

The stainless steel case measures 40 mm x 15 mm, has prominent crown guards, and a rotating bezel with a ceramic insert with embossed markings. A matte black treatment that Bamford refers to as a Military Grade Titanium Coating (MGTC) gives the exterior a unique appearance and reduces the chance of scratching it, not to mention highlighting the dark cosmic rainbow dial.

Of course, the movement is not going to be anything crazy considering the price point and this is equipped with a Swiss Ronda 715 Date quartz movement (as opposed to the Japanese Miyota 2035 used for the regular production Mayfair collection), and there’s no visible date indication despite the movement possessing the function.

The crown and caseback screw down and water-resistance rating is 100 meters. The caseback has a large blank area and Bamford offers the ability to customize this area on their website.

Whether this watch will hold its value is hard to say but it’s a fun watch — which could be mistaken for an “F You” watch — yet it does not cost a fortune. Plus, it’s a conversation watch and available only in limited edition so if you decide to buy one, nobody else will likely have it.

Retail is approximately $775. There are still some left at the time this article was written.
