Baselworld is the name of what was the world’s largest wristwatch (and jewelry) trade show, which took place each Spring (in March or April) in Basel, Switzerland, (for the better part of an entire century, up until 2020). What was once a 100,000+ visitors annual event became an outdated trade show that was too expensive and out of touch with the times. Baselworld management also made numerous poor decisions and it ultimately had to shut down when it did not address the concerns of anchor brands, such as Rolex, who eventually decided to create a show in Geneva (Watches and Wonders) in partnership with the Richemont Group and LVMH.
