Marc Jenni Prologue WDT: R Evolutionary (Ref. P03)

Marc Jenni, an independent watchmaker and member of the AHCI (Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants) recently unveiled his latest creation, the WDT: R Evolutionary — timepiece which features an innovative crownless design. Instead of the typical crown seen on virtually all wristwatches, Marc Jenni created a system that utilizes a push button at 4 o’clock on the case flank, which in turn controls the selector subdial at 4 o’clock, allowing the wearer to choose between “W” Winding, “D” Date and “T” Time modes.

Once selected, rotating the fluted ring, which is located around the middle of the case, controls the three operations normally controlled by a crown. According to Marc Jenni, “The gentle rotation between thumb and forefinger of the Prologue’s signature turning ring, as it revolves serenely around the case, transforms the otherwise jerky task of Winding, Date and Time adjustment into a natural and fluid operation.”

The WDT Prologue is presented in a 44 mm sandblasted stainless steel case with polished edges. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal with antireflective coating. The self-winding 22 jewel Swiss movement runs at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and has a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.

The WDT comes in two variations: an all ardoise grey dial with a concentric circular decoration, applied rhodium plated hour markers with a black grid and a black leather strap with grey honeycomb textured rubber (or) an all ardoise grey dial with concentric circular decoration, applied rhodium plated markers with rhodium grid and a dark grey vintage calf strap. Both versions feature rhodium diamond cut and polished hands with Superluminova. WDT – Selector indicator brushed and polished, rhodium plated.

Water resistant 30 meters. Stainless steel folding buckle.
