This year, G-Shock released all-new metal-covered versions of the popular “CasiOak” collection, in two sizes.

At launch, the GM-2100 series comes in four versions measuring 44.4 mm x 11.8 mm (49.3 mm lug-to-lug), and the GM-S2100 series comes in three versions measuring 40.4 mm x 11 mm (45.9 lug-to-lug).

The entire metal-covered CasiOak collection comes in cost-effective, lightweight resin cases that are coated in metal — and topped with forged stainless steel bezels to ensure durability.

GM-2100 Series

The standard 44 mm diameter G-Shock CasiOak collection consists of the GM2100-1A (steel bezel, steel case, silver dial), GM2100N-2A (gray IP steel bezel, blue dial, blue case), GM2100B-3A (gray IP steel bezel, olive green dial, gray case), and GM2100B-4A (gray IP steel bezel, red dial, gray case). This collection features vertically brushed dials, which the smaller 40 mm CasiOaks do not. All four styles are paired with a resin strap and weigh approximately 72 grams.

Functions include Full Auto Double Super LED, 5 Alarms, 1/100 Stopwatch (1Hr), Countdown Timer (24Hr), Full Auto Calendar, World Time (31 Time Zones, 48 Cities+UTC), 12/24Hr Time Formats, Hand Shift Feature, and an approximate three year battery life (two batteries).

GM-S2100 Series

The mini 40 mm diameter G-Shock CasiOak collection consists of the GMS2100PG-1A (pink gold-colored IP bezel, case, and dial), GMS2100-3A (steel bezel, steel-colored case, olive green dial), and  GMS2100B-8A (gray IP steel bezel, gray dial, gray case). All three styles are paired with a resin strap and weigh approximately 55 grams.

Functions include Full Auto Double Super LED, 5 Alarms, 1/100 Stopwatch (24Hr), Countdown Timer (24Hr), World Time (31 Time Zones, 48 Cities+UTC), 12/24Hr Time Formats, Hand Shift Feature, and an approximate three year battery life (one battery).

Apart from the case size, non-vertically brushed dial, minor price differences, and color variations — the two metal-covered CasiOaks have almost the same aesthetic, with the exception of two minor design differences. The first is that the digital display on the lower-right section of the dial is similar on each but has been arranged on the two dials with slight differences, although the functions are the same. The second, is that the day of the week indicator (located at 9 o’clock), works for the 44 mm version, but is visually different, and appears to be non-functional on the 40 mm model.

Each of the GM-2100 and GM-S2100 series watches is 200 meters water-resistant, highly shock-resistant, and has a mineral crystal protecting the dial. Retail prices range from $180 to $220, depending on the model. The larger metal-covered CasiOaks are available for pre-order currently, and the smaller CasiOaks will become available next month.
