In collaboration with Hypebeast’s HBX selling platform, MAD and Hatton Labs are making a customized version of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.

Using a 37 mm diameter version of the Royal Oak, with a caliber 3120 automatic movement, as the base — the two companies have given the iconic timepiece an entirely new look, dubbed the Portcullis. Drawing inspiration from the medieval Portcullis gate, this limited-run design showcases strength, protection, and a fusion design that is both divergent and individualistic.

From the custom mirror-polished dial to the custom hand-painted Sea-foam green hands, to the matching Sea-foam green sapphire crown — this watch is equal parts timepiece, jewelry, and art.

Forty “pyramid-cut” baguette diamonds (3.02 carats) have been set in the bezel, along with 20 white “pyramid-cut” diamonds in the bracelet (2.475 carats). The stones are G/VVS, Lab Grown Diamonds (total carats 5.495).

HBX says, “In the spirit of the historic hub of London’s jewelry trade, Hatton Garden, Hatton Labs focuses on creating new solutions to contemporary and modern jewelry. Prioritizing the finest metals and advanced construction, the brand’s pieces provide optimal comfort and style – the Portcullis is no exception.”

The special limited edition has no official connection to Audemars Piguet, so you cannot count on the same reliable resale values as a factory piece. The retail price is $158,000 and pre-orders (with production lead times estimated to be 3 months) will only be accepted from purchases made from Canada, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Japan, France, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
