Last week, the Hodinkee Shop debuted a modern limited edition GMT watch collaboration inspired by Mido’s vintage Multi-Centerchrono.

The Mido Ocean Star GMT Hodinkee Limited Edition features a 40.5 mm x 13.43 mm stainless steel case with a bi-directional 24-hour rotating steel bezel with a black ceramic insert.

A classic matte black and white dial design — including a railway minutes/seconds track — with custom indices, numerals, and a printed vintage Mido logo, along with a red 24-hour non-jumping GMT hand, distinguishes this timepiece.

When changing the main timezone hour hand, it jumps from hour to hour to make setting the local time easier upon arriving at your destination. The red GMT hand rotates the dial once every 24 hours and does not jump in one-hour increments the way some GMT watches do, which is a result of how the 80-hour ETA-based hours, minutes, center seconds, date, and GMT movement is configured.

The Mido Ocean Star GMT Hodinkee Limited Edition has a domed sapphire crystal on the dial side and a screw-in stainless steel caseback, the latter of which has individual numbering between 1-999. The depth rating is 200 meters.

The Mido Ocean Star GMT Hodinkee Limited Edition (Ref. M026.829.11.051.00) retails for $1,390 and is limited to 999 pieces. Each watch is delivered with a 21 mm stainless mesh bracelet, brown leather strap, and a two-piece nylon strap, all equipped with quick-release spring bars.
