This year, Casio introduced a new version of its premium MRG B5000 Series in a traditional titanium aesthetic.

The MRGB5000D-1 is presented in the company’s iconic square-shaped case, measuring 43.2 mm x 12.9 mm, and 49.4 mm (lug-to-lug).

Unlike stainless steel G-Shocks that may at first appear to be the same as this, the MRGB5000D-1 features a lighter-weight titanium case and bracelet, weighing just 114 grams. The construction and finishing of the components are substantially elevated above the standard G-Shock Full Metal 5000 line.

Boasting a titanium carbide coating, to reduce scratches, the MRGB5000D-1 case and bezel are made of Ti64-based super-hard titanium alloy, while the band is made of another special titanium alloy, DAT55G, which is both three times harder than pure titanium and highly workable. The bezel top is crafted in COBARION®, a cobalt-chrome alloy four times harder than pure titanium. The bezel alone consists of 25 different components, each individually polished for enhanced detail.

According to G-Shock, “The state-of-the-art Multi-guard Structure incorporates flat springs and silicone buffers to the multi-component bezel, ensuring outstanding shock absorption to protect the dedicated MR-G module with gold-plated retainer plate. MRGB5000D with contrasting hairline and mirror finishes and a titanium carbide coating for exquisitely polished silver. Both watch faces feature an iconic brick pattern and red line in a nod to the original design.”

The MRGB5000D-1 comes with the full array of G-Shock technologies including Bluetooth time synching with the Casio Watches app, and a redundancy  6-band atomic in case a phone or connection is not available to sync the watch with Bluetooth. You also get a stopwatch, countdown timer, LED light, world time, full auto calendar, a phone finder, 200 meters of water resistance, and a Premium Production Line certificate.

Retail is $3,500. Learn more at MRG.
