This is a preview of the Royal Oak Concept GMT Tourbillon that Audemars Piguet will officially unveil at SIHH 2014 in January. The original Royal Oak Concept was launched in 2002, and there have been a number of subsequent updates that followed. This year’s model features a white ceramic bezel, crown and pusher — with a titanium middle case. Additionally, white ceramic was incorporated into the upper bridge of the caliber 2913 movement — visible when you look at the dial. It is the white hourglass shaped component that runs from 12 to 6 o’clock.

The dial is open worked, allowing a view of the tourbillon at 9 o’clock, as it oscillates, whilte simultaneously making one full rotating every 60 seconds. At 3 o’clock is a cool disc based 2nd time zone indicator. A crown position indicator is located at 6 o’clock. Caliber 2913 is manually wound movement that runs at 3Hz, with an impressive 237-hour power reserve. The movement finishing includes: hand-finished bridges and mainplate, hand finished cut-out parts, polished angles, hand-drawn file strokes on upper surface and matt finish beneath.

Functions include: 24-hour GMT display w/day and night indicator, hour, minutes, tourbillon and crown selector. White gold Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating. Black anodized aluminum inner bezel. White ceramic outer bezel. Glareproofed sapphire crystal and caseback. A white rubber strap with titanium AP folding clasp is integrated directly into the case.
