Steven Spielberg’s epic shark film, Jaws, will return to the theaters this year, along with an NBC/Peacock special.
Like the iconic 1975 movie, Seiko’s Turtle watch, which first arrived in 1976, is a cult classic, and to celebrate the occasion, the Japanese watchmaker has created a 5,000-piece limited edition that will go on sale in July. The Prospex Turtle “Jaws” 50th Anniversary Limited Edition (Ref. SRPL81) will be delivered in a stainless steel cushion-shaped case measuring 45 mm x 13.2 mm, with a 47.7 mm lug-to-lug, a 22 mm lug width, and a total weight of 128 grams on the included blue silicone strap.
“JAWS” is embossed in red at 6 o’clock, against a dial that features a blue textured gradation design that, naturally, has a motif of a shark popping out of the water with its jaws open. A dark blue surrounds the Jaws-themed dial, and a matching count-up graduated ceramic dive bezel insert surrounds the dial.
As a special limited edition, the caseback is marked with the image of the Orca, the boat made famous by the film, with a shark’s dorsal fin piercing the waterʼs surface from below. The words “JAWS 50th / LIMITED EDITION” and the serial number are also marked.
Seiko’s automatic caliber 4R36 powers the hours, minutes, seconds, day, and date. The 24-jewel, 3.5Hz movement offers stop seconds and a 41-hour power reserve. The Seiko Prospex Turtle “Jaws” 50th Anniversary Limited Edition has a screw down crown, screw-in caseback, sapphire crystal, and is water-resistant to a depth of 200 meters.
The retail price is $795, and the watch goes on sale in July 2025.
