Today, Casio Japan announced the Titanium G-Shock 5000 Series (GMW-B5000TB), which is the first of the Full Metal 5000 collection to be constructed with titanium.

The majority of the watch is made from lightweight titanium, including the case, band, bezel, case back, and buttons. The titanium case and bracelet weighs approximately 110 grams which is 60 grams lighter than the steel versions that weigh around 170 grams.

A black diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating has been applied to the exterior for excellent scratch and wear resistance. The four buttons and font on the case, including the “G-SHOCK” logo are in gold, which contrasts the matte black surfaces.

Unlike previous 5000 Series watches, the front glass is made from sapphire crystal, as opposed to mineral crystal, improving scratch resistance. There’s also a new anti-reflective coating applied which will likely increase the visibility of the digital display in bright conditions. This is further enhanced by a new STN-LCD readout that offers better viewing at any angle.

Dimensions are still the same at 49.3 × 43.2 × 13.0 mm.
