Victorinox Swiss Army, the maker of the original Swiss Army knife, introduced their first watch collection, the Original, in 1989.

To pay homage to this model, they launched two new timepieces at Baselworld: the Original and Original Chronograph LE version. Each model comes in a 40 mm dark grey nylon case with a dark grey fixed aluminum bezel, mineral glass, and stainless steel screwed-in case back. The water resistance is rated to 100 meters. The Original has a dark grey dial with hours, minutes, seconds, date, and military time indications.

The Original Limited Edition Chronograph comes with a dark grey dial with hours, minutes, seconds, date, and chronograph. The hour and minute hands for each model are skeletonized and have luminescent material. The hour markers are cut-out and feature luminescent material.

“In both versions, the natural leather strap can be worn in the traditional way, or else with the addition of a cuff that fits over the base strap with two loops. The chronograph – a limited and numbered series of 1989 pieces (the number refers to the year of birth of the first model) – has an additional design element: a removable hood, also in leather, covering the housing assembly.

This casing is a nod to the military wristwatches of the first half of the 20th century, which were protected by a grille or a lid. Today, it is a stylish accessory. The two- and three-part straps also pay homage to Victorinox’s famous Swiss Army Officer Knife, whose original case was manufactured in leather of the same color.”

The Original is powered by a Swiss Made quartz Ronda caliber 515 while the Chronograph is powered by Swiss Made quartz caliber ETA G10-211.
