Watchfinder, a UK-based online retailer of second-hand watches, has opened what is thought to be the world’s first luxury pre-owned watch point of sale in an airport’s airside duty-free area.

The store is within TimeVallée in Qatar’s Hamad International Airport in Doha, which was unveiled in January this year. TimeVallée is a multi-brand luxury watch retail concept created by Richemont, which also owns Watchfinder.

The Watchfinder shop-in-shop offers a wide selection of pre-owned watches from over 50 brands, including Rolex, Omega, and Cartier. The watches are all certified by Watchfinder and come with a one-year warranty. Customers can both buy and sell watches at the store.

The opening of the store is a sign of the growing popularity of pre-owned luxury watches. In recent years, there has been a surge in demand for these watches, as consumers look for a more affordable way to own a luxury timepiece. The airport location is also a strategic move for Watchfinder, as it gives the company access to a large and affluent customer base.

Arjen van de Vall, CEO of Watchfinder, said: “We are delighted to open our first airport store in Doha. This is a significant milestone for us and we are confident that it will be a success. The airport location gives us access to a large and affluent customer base, and we are confident that our range of pre-owned luxury watches will appeal to them.”
