Three New Manero Flybacks Hands-On

Following the launch of the Manero Flyback Chronograph last year, Carl F. Bucherer has introduced three new variations for 2017.
The Manero Flyback is available in a new stainless steel version with a unique matte blue-gray dial, and in red gold with either a black or champagne-colored dial.
Accentuated by the new color schemes, the Manero Flyback looks the same as the inaugural model, otherwise. This means the dial has dauphine-shaped hands with cut-out center, snailed counters, dagger-shaped faceted and polished indexes, and printed scales for (tachymeter, minutes, chronograph seconds).
Furthermore, prominent pump pushers allow you to operate the chronograph without applying a lot of pressure. The case bezel, lugs, and domed sapphire crystal are rounded, resulting in a distinctive look.
Inside, is the same automatic caliber 1970 flyback chronograph which beats at 4Hz, has a 42-hour power reserve, and features a column-wheel. The movement is not made by in-house made, like the Manero Peripheral we reviewed, but has been customized, finished, and assembled. There are Geneva stripes on the bridges and signed rotor, along with perlage on the mainplate, and blued screws (a new item).
The case measures 43 mm x 14.45 mm (movement 30.4 mm, height 7.9 mm) and has predominantly polished surfaces with subtle satin brushing on the top of the lugs. Wate-resistance is 30 meters. Carl F. Bucherer has taken a popular model from last year and made it in three new colors, of which the blue-gray in steel and red gold with champagne are particularly unique and interesting, and a red gold and black version that is a classically handsome color combination. On the wrist, the watch looks great, and the price in steel is at least palatable, although it would be even better to see the flyback module added to Carl F. Bucherer’s signature peripheral rotor equipped movement.
